Random bits {baby booties, a cat cave, wooden shawl pins}

I have been doing quite random things lately... I have officially entered exam period, but for it I have been studying for two months already now. I am in the fever of completing what is left to pass for graduation and although I may not be sure about the outcomes (of this exam period) I know for sure that I am getting tired of studying. xD

Plus, at the same time I spent a lot of time adding mom's stuff on my Etsy shop (check out all this awesome stuff!) (and a few of my own.. he he) and life has been.. hectic.
Nevertheless, I still manage to find some time to knit.

Düsseldorf

And so the story of the trip begins! But not with a place in Iceland, with Dusseldorf! My first day of travelling included a day-long stopover in this beautiful German city, so I took advantage of it and payed it a quick visit.

New equipment

For the upcoming trip to Iceland I needed a pair of hiking boots (since we will be hiking on rough terrain) so I was searching into various options and in the end got a pair in Slovakia!

Baking

I am not much of a cook. In fact I don't know if I even have covered the basics of cooking. But I now one thing for sure, I go crazy for pancakes. The American type.

Moar Yarn!

I have not been posting much lately - and there are several reasons for this: I have been very busy with work, some school projects, travelling and some other stuff I will soon talk about. And also exams are coming up in one week. How cool. xD

But for now I will try to post something, however small, and right now I can show you my new indulges in yarn. :)

The Knitter

Quite a few weeks ago I revisited my almost forgotten tumblr blog (don't have time to update it frequently anymore..) and I came across something very interesting: the original post of the Knitter Fandom!

Yarn hunting

The other day I was scouting for yarn in various LYSs (didn't visit my favorite one because it's far away and I didn't have much time) for new shop additions. I found what I was looking for, but bought in total waaay too much yarn. Some of which I like so much, I want to keep for myself.

A random project and a new job

So I was out the other day, from one LYS to another, looking for yarn for new shop addictions. And while I was browsing through different yarns, I spotted a lovely skein, and let's say, I indulged.

Sunbathing in February

These past few days I am engulfed in a working frenzy - hyperactive all the time without end! The good thing is, that a lot of work gets done, and boy, did my room need tidying up and cleaning!

My laptop has a story to tell

This is a success story from a year ago, which at the time I was very hyped writing about it, but postponed it until I processed and edited the video I took of the process.

Well, guess what. One year later, the video has not been edited yet.
So, I thought of talking about the story without the video, for now at least.

2013 in action!

Today's 'Quote of the Day' is directly linked to what is happening the last two days, both in text and image.

2013 seems to start off promising, and although unusually cold, with pleasant surprises!

And now for something completely different

Some things come out of the blue and have the power to put a long lasting smile on your face.

Recently, my first ever American friend, that I met during traveling between Turkey and Greece, wrote a poem that has as introduction our encounter across borders:

We met, she told me I'm her first American friend
An historic day for both of us in March, 2010

So personable she is with so much promise
An Engineering student at a competition
Building robots with her team

So much younger than I but together
We were ageless enjoying the town

She’d been here before, a favorite student place to go
And she proudly showed me around to
All the best places for me to be and enjoy during my brief stay
Representing very well her home country

Everyone around the world should be this way
Differences between us all would be less I can say
Later she left for her connecting train
But we have kept in touch till this very day

[...]

You can read the full version in her blog.

I was surprised, glad and very happy to I read this,
Thank you Margaret. :)

New finds and ideas!

Recently it happened that an old Nikon film camera fell into my hands. And I had this crazy idea: Why not try to use the old Nikkor lens with my DSLR?

The results were very interesting.

13 Goals for 2013

Thirteen goals are quite a lot, but I get the feeling that this year I have to get down to finish some things I have been postponing for years.

Evaluating 2012

It has definitely been a fun year, full of new adventures, experiences and people. It also had it's ups and downs, but I am glad to say that by the end of it, it turned more towards being better than worse.

Or so I think.

Christmas packages

... arrived early this year. (That's what you get when you have Austrian friends!)
Just when I came back from Italy I discovered some packages on my desk, one of them filled with delicious presents!

Very nice surprise, but also a reminder that until then I had prepared nothing in return!

DSLR

Last August, after having a serious knee injury that had me constrained on a bed, semester exams coming up with 3 group projects to finish by myself and a lot of subjects to study and pass, I decided to buy myself an expensive birthday gift. One I had been longing for long.

How do you relax?

After a busy day (or just a very busy mind day) one of the ways I have to relax my mind and forget about almost everything is to lie in bed watch a movie and knit something interesting.

Doesn't always work, but most times. :)
