I learned how to double knit! and it's so much fun! much easier than one would expected to be, and I really like the result it produces.

Oddity mittens

I haven't been doing much writing lately, my schedule has been even more busy than ordinary and at the same time the flu decided to stop by for a while.

Some embroidery

A little bit after I started the knitting lessons, a client that frequents at the patisserie where the lessons take place, asked me to mend and embroider some blouses. After some pondering and playing with different colors and shapes, here is what I came up with:

These are my most favorites to date! I like the construction, the color, the fit! But this didn't come without some frogging in the process...

Summer knitting [and crochet]

And for a small break from the road trip story, the past month I have been doing some relax knitting - and that before I found a new obsession, which I will reveal soon!

Aftur!

Have I mentioned that I am a Lopi fan? I should, because Lopi yarn (and designs) are amazingly awesome!

During the June exams and while being stressed, depressed, running from one thing to another and multitasking, I managed to finish my Aftur just in time before the trip to Iceland. And I LOVE IT.

Crochet motifs and macrame

Other pre-trip knitting I got to do involve crochet and macrame instead: I was commissioned to make 20 crochet cotton motifs and two macrame bracelets.

Bikini tops & frilly yarn experiment #3

So I am back from Iceland! And there is so much to tell from that amazing trip, I don't know where to start from! We took amazing pictures, had awesome time, and I learned a thing or two about Icelandic knitting, if not got inspired for new projects and designs!!

But before I move on describing what happened in July, I have lots to present from June. It was exam period (pretty hard one,.. again) and I didn't have enough time to prepare new posts: I also had my two part time jobs as well as several made to order items.

Frilly yarn Experiment #2

The second experiment is done - I finished it during my recent travelling, but it didn't last long before I actually ripped it. But I did manage to take some pictures to show you how it turned out.

The 8 square socks

During my stay in Leuven, I managed to spot a very awesome local yarn store and steal some time to go and take a look at their products. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to thoroughly examine all my options, and definitely no time to buy something (I was carrying my luggage and 3 extra sleeping bags at the time).

But since I have friends living there, I thought I could ask them to buy some for me later. That's what I eventually did, and as thanks, I decided to make a 'thank you gift' for the friend that helped me.

The Templeton Square Competition Results

A few days ago the results of the competition came out. As much as you might be surprised, you have no idea how much I was, when I heard the news. Especially after seeing all the contestants' pieces!! So amazing and creative!

But I am very happy and grateful to Knitty Magazine and Franklin Habit that organised this inspiring, creative and challenging contest!

I had lot's of fun taking part and I feel that I challenged myself a bit more!

The next challenge would be to make something intricate with the yarn of the prize. I have never worked with Cascade yarns before and I am looking forward to it! ^^

P.S: to all those wondering, I have plans of creating a pattern for the wrap, but I have no idea yet, when will I be able to write it up, because exam season begins shortly and I have limited free time. :\

Mustard yellow

These two recently completed items may not match the weather outside, but they are awesome looking and I can't just keep away from presenting them. ^^

Frilly yarn experiment #1

As I have mentioned before, recently I started experimenting with frilly yarn and the first try produced some unique pieces - necklaces!

The Flowerpot coat

Winter is over, and finally the Flowerpot coat is done! But words can't describe how awesome it is - and this comes from a person that doesn't really like knitting the garter stitch.

Time to talk about some knitting now, and present a whole new project I finished some time ago. 

Finnish socks

Just a few days before I departed for Italy 3 weeks ago, I managed to finish my second pair of socks. And I was also clever enough to take them with me! Wisest decision ever!

Because you see, in north Italy it's very cold, and warm wool socks are exactly the thing you should have on your feet.

Yoga socks

My favorite pair so far! The yoga socks I started almost a year ago and finished just last month.

Ein Paar Strümpfe

Παρότι πλέκω ουσιαστικά από το 2007, κάλτσες δεν έπλεξα ποτέ - μέχρι τώρα. Αποφάσισα μιάς και έχουν πιάσει τα πολύ πολύ κρύα να τις φτιάξω τώρα, που είναι και πιο απαραίτητες.

Obwohl ich schon seit 2007 stricke, habe ich angeblich noch keine Strümpfe gestrickt - das gilt bis heute. Neulich habe ich diese Mangel beseitigt, ich habe ein Paar Strümpfe gestrickt, die einfach am notwendigsten mit so einem kalten Wetter sind!
