Belgrade ♡

Just two days ago, I returned from an amazing trip to Serbia. It was long, and a bit tiring in the beginning (almost 19 hours by bus to reach Belgrade) but it was totally worth it!

 I went for holidays and stayed at a very good friend of mine for 8 days. Yeah, it's more than enough to see a city, but my goal was to relax also, not just sightseeing. And hopefully I succeeded in doing so. ^^ I left Patras in an extremely bad mood and too tired to have any energy for anything.

I met a lot of friends, both from Serbia and foreigners (there was a BEST event going on in the first days), learned a bit of Serbian! and practiced my German a bit.. though gtalk. :p

As for my impressions of Belgrade, what can I say, I fell in love from the first day! And I didn't expect to like it so much, I mean, I have been to cities such as Paris, and I was not that amazed!

During the time I was there, I was trying to find the reason why I liked it so much, and I think I have an answer for it... Belgrade has for me the perfect combination, it's neither too cold or harsh as northern European cities, nor soft and 'halara' as southern cities. (Take for example Greek ones)

Of course I loved their parks! They have almost in every corner about one, and I didn't miss the chance to exploit them... reading books in benches in the middle of a green paradise. :p

Almost every day I was outdoors walking, walking, walking and walking so much, that I lost weight! (I still wonder how that happened, I ate at least an ice cream and a chocolate per day...) So, I had the chance to see many parts of the city! I stayed in the old part, but visited New Belgrade also (or Novi Belgrade, better!) and Zemun, a district in New Belgrade near the river. 

As for sightseeing, my favorites were the Ethnological museum, the Nikola Tesla Museum, the Kalemegdan Fortress and the Zoo (spent something like 3 hours in there :p).

The Nikola Tesla M. was one of my must-visits anyway, since Nikola Tesla may be my favorite scientist ever.. so as you can imagine I enjoyed there the tour too. ^^ I also bought a book, containing a philosophical essay written by Tesla something like 100 years ago. I have read one chapter, and I can say it's interesting enough! 

Ahhh the Fortress... I honestly don't know how many times I went there! almost everyday, and sometimes twice a day! (I am crazy, I know, but I really liked it..) It is also very big, so there are many places to sit around, enjoy the sun and relax...

And last but not least, the nightlife! I had heard that nightlife in Belgrade rocks, and hell it does! There are many clubs/bars/after-party places/after-after-party places/anything-that-can-exist-or-you-can-think-of  that you can choose based on your tastes, eg. in music, and which of course don't close at 1.am. They can keep going until the first morning hours. For me that's the 'right' way of going out at night. :p

But apart from Belgrade and it's greatness, I also planned to visit Novi Sad, another city, which I eventually didn't, and I hope I will have the chance next time I visit Serbia! ^^

Some interesting and random facts about Belgrade:

• Serbian people love Greece! Most of them visit Greece for summer holidays and a great deal of them also speak Greek!
• I could hear Greek music from any kind of cafeteria/bar/fast food restaurant
• There was actually a place with Greek pita gyros, which I tried, and have to admit, a lot better than any pita gyros I have tasted in Greece!
• Drivers in the streets actually pay attention to passengers
• They say 'ciao' even to passing strangers!

This is also a time to write in English, because except from feeling to do so, I think this particular post will be read by people from many different countries.. and I want them to understand. :)

A wonderful journey to Turkey came to an end. Ok, it was not perfect, but it was nice. I visited new places, met extraordinary people, made incredible new friends :).

I finally spoke in all the three languages I know! That made me more than happy, especially when I discovered that German could save me in Turkey. And they actually did! ;)

I really don't know from where to start and where to end.. so many things happened. Maybe I should say that we did build robots in the end (no, unfortunately my team not :( ) and we also participated in that very interesting Robotic Days competition :). I would participate again, if next time English were available! :p (not everything in Turkish guys, come on!)

Luckily, or unluckily trips do not end here. This Friday I am leaving again for a 4-day trip to Chania. And after that in April, I am visiting Bordeaux, another spring course, but as a co-organizer this time :). (Got my tickets today!! Yay!! :D)

But all these trips harm my faculty :(. I already lost a lab because of being absent, have lost almost every contact,... things don't look good. I am falling behind. 

 ...  but I should enjoy life, ... right?

In any case, although I am disappointed with myself, I do not regret any of the things I do. It's my life and mine only.

But all these, didn't go without knitting :D. I will present you what I finished just before i left. (or almost all of them) It is true that I have done a lot of things that are on a state of being half done right now, so I can't present anything yet :\. Also during the trip I made a lot of flowers, as gifts to my new friends :) and tried also new patterns, but I will present them next time, now I am bored of uploading the pictures :D. (picasa is slow you know)

Mπλα μπλα..

Αχεμ. Ναι, το μπλόκ εξελίσσεται. Είδατε post ολόκληρο στα αγγλικά. 

Εδώ και καιρό μια το έφερνα από εδώ, μια από κει... ε τελικά είπα να ξεκινήσω να γράφω και σε δεύτερη γλώσσα, εκτός από τα ελληνικά. Όχι όμως στα αγγλικά. Αλλά στα γερμανικά. Περισσότερο για εξάσκηση βέβαια. (τα αγγλικά δεν χρειάζονται εξάσκηση μετά από τόοοσα χρόνια!)

Οπότε σκέφτηκα, τα μη-πολυλογία-που-με-έπιασε-πάλι post να τα μεταφράζω και στα γερμανικά. Βέβαια, ακόμη και αυτό δεν ξέρω αν θα το κάνω, γιατί δεν είναι και το δυνατό μου σημείο το γράψιμο στα γερμανικά και δεν διαθέτω πάντα χρόνο. :\ (Θα ζητήσω φυσικά την κατανόησή σας σε τυχόν λάθη... )

Anyway, θα παρατείνω για ακόμη μια φορά την αγωνία, και δεν θα παρουσιάσω πλεκτά, αντί αυτού, παραθέτω μερικά αποσπάσματα από το βιβλίο του Erich Fromm: 'Η Τέχνη της Αγάπης', τα οποία έκανα πρόσφατα στο μάθημα των γερμανικών. Απολαύστε! (εεε όχι αυτό δεν το μεταφράζω! είπαμε! :P)

Warum so? Also, ich habe mich schließlich geschlossen, zwei verschiedene Sprachen zu benutzen: Griechisch und Deutsch. Aber kein English, denn ich brauche keine Übung. Ganz das Gegenteil, was mit Deutsch passiert ist. Ich brauche die Sprache zu üben, und ich hoffe, dass solchen posts mir helfen wurden. 

Entschuldigen sie mich über die Fehler, die ich mache. Ich werde die kurze posts sicher ubersetzen, aber ich wieß nicht, wie oft es passieren wurde.

Dieses mal stelle ich keine gestrickende Projekte vor, sondern kleine Teile des Buches: 'Kunst des Liebens' von Erich Fromm. Ich habe sie neulich in meinem Deutsch Unterricht gemacht. :D :D

Die meisten Menschen sehen das Problem der Liebe in erster Linie als das Problem, selbst geliebt zu werden, statt zu lieben und lieben zu können. Daher geht es für sie nur darum, wie man es erreicht, geliebt zu werden, wie man liebenswert wird. Um zu diesem Ziel zu gelingen, schlagen sie verschiedene Wege ein. Der eine, besonders von Männern verfolgte Weg ist der, so erfolgreich, so mächtig und reich zu sein, wie es die eigene gesellschaftliche Stellung möglich macht. Ein anderer, besonders von Frauen bevorzugter Weg is der, durch Kosmetik, schöne Kleider und dergleichen möglichst attraktiv zu sein. Andere Mittel, die sowohl von Männern als auch von Frauen angewandt werden, sind angenehme Manieren, interessante Unterhaltung, Hilfsbereitschaft, Bescheidenheit und Gutmütigkeit. Viele dieser Mittel, sich liebenswert zu machen, sind die gleichen wie die, deren man sich bedient, um Erfolg zu haben, um "Freunde zu gewinnen". Tatsächlich vestehen ja die meisten Menschen unseres Kulturkreises unter Liebenswürdigkeit eine Mishung aus Beliebtheit und Sex-Appeal. [...]

Im Viktorianischen Zeitalter war die Liebe - wie in vielen traditionellen Kulturen -  kein spontanes persönliches Erlebnis, das hinterher vielleicht zu einer Heirat führte. Ganz im Gegenteil: Ein Heiratsvertrag wurde entweder zwishen den beiden Familien oder von einem Heiratsvermittler oder auch ohne eine derartige Vermittlung abgeschlossen; der Abschluß erfolgte aufgrund gesellschaftlicher Erwägungen unter der Annahme, dass sich die Liebe nach der Heirat schon einstellen werde. In den letzten Generationen ist nun aber die Vorstellung von der romantischen Liebe in der westlichen Welt fast Allgemeingut geworden. [...]

Unsere gesamte Kultur gründet sich auf die Lust am Kaufen, auf die Idee des für beide Seiten günstigen Tauschengeschäfts. Schaufenster anzusehen und sich alles, was man sich leisten kann, gegen bares Geld oder auf Raten kaufen zu können -  in diesem Nervenkitzel liegt das Glück des modernen Menschen. Er (oder sie) sieht sich die Mitemenschen auf ähnliche Weise an. Der Mann ist hinter einem attraktiven jungen Mädchen und die Frau ist hinter einem atttraktiven Mann her. Dabei wird unter "attraktiv" ein Bündel netter Eigenschaften vestanden, die gerade beliebt und auf den Personalmarkt gefragt sind. [...]

Jedenfalls entwickelt sich das Gefühl der Verliebtheit gewöhnlich nur in bezug auf solche menschlichen Werte, für die man selbst entsprechende Tauschobjekte zur Verfügung hat. Man will ein Geschäft machen; der erwünschte Gegenstand sollte vom Standpunkt seines gesellschaftlichen Wertes aus begehrenswert sein und gleichzeitig auch mich aufgrund meiner offenen und verborgenen Pluspunkte und Möglichkeiten begehrenswert finden. So verlieben sich zwei Menschen ineinander, wenn sie das Gefühl haben, das beste Objekt gefunden zu haben, das für sie in Anbetracht des eigenen Tauschwerts auf den Markt erschwinglich ist. [...]

Die Auffassung, nichts sei einfacher als zu lieben, herrscht noch immer vor, trozt der geradezu überwältigenden Gegenbeweise. Es gibt kaum eine Aktivität, kaum ein Unterfangen, das mit so ungeheuren Hoffnungen und Erwartungen begonnen wird und das mit einer solchen Regelmäßigkeit fehlschlägt wie die Liebe.
